Zola Jesus - Tsar Bomba

Tsar Bomba

Again, I'm tired. So in bullet points.

  • You probably already have this.
  • It's my favorite EP of the year.
  • If I had a vagina, a womb and other girl parts I would have Zola Jesus' babies.
  • That is all.
  • Goodnight.
  • Or Morning for you I suppose.
Also, the link should be doing okay now.

Some Stuff by Haunted Castle

Dust Tombs
Void Lake
Volcano Life
Split w/Dead White
Split w/Greyskull

I honestly have to wonder someone would read this blog if you aren't a fan of Dan Dlugosielski's various projects. I mean more than any other artist his stuff is the soundtrack of NNFNN. Harsh and beautiful stuff. JUST LIKE US.

Nü Sensae - Self Titled 12" & Three Dreams 7"

Self Titled
Three Dreams

I'm too tired to be witty, but if the veritable flood of Shearing Pinx records just isn't enough for you or you're sad that Mutators broke up then go ahead and grab these short slices of nonowave.

Treetops - Eternal Sky c30

Eternal Sky

Arbor label-founder Mike Pollard has put out some reaaaaally sweet drone under the Treetops name. This came out on Monorail Trespassing too, another reason why you should get it.

The Man I Fell In Love With - The Dignity Workshop (For Two) 7"

The Dignity Workshop (For Two) 7"

A neat 7" from one of the greatest emo bands of all time.

Seven-Inch Saturdays #12 [Harry Pussy Edition]

The staff of NNFNN is still out sick [though the pussy is helping to beat the swine] so I'm by myself again and bringing you more of the Harry Pussy in a attempt to revitalize one of our lapsed institutions.

Chances are you've heard most, if not all of these, on the two comps that are out there. I feel pretty confident in speaking for the rest of the NNFNN staff that while we recognize the need for compilations of OOP Material we don't much care for listening to them.

To be totally honest what I wrote about Ride a Dove covers most of the text I would be writing about here so I'm just gonna skip it and get to the music.

Harry Pussy - Ride A Dove

Ride A Dove

The rest of the staff of NNFNN is out on sick leave [widespread swine flu, very nasty] so I, Mandingo, am here to tell you about one of my favorite records of all time.

There are a lot of bands that are simply products of their time. There are less bands that are before their time. Rare is the band that is both and Harry Pussy is one of the shining examples of one. The sound is totally locked into that 90's Slitbreeze free noise sound that we all love and hold dear, but this is in a lot of ways the blueprint for quite a bit of the scene that came afterwords. I honestly don't think that Load Records would've been the same label without Harry Pussy existing.

I keep going back in my head about how much a rare and wonderful band Harry Pussy was and I think that this record exemplifies that. The first minute or so of this is just one of those moments that is forever stuck in my mind. It starts off with audience noise and then, almost out of nowhere Adris lets out this scream that I don't think has ever been equaled on record and it's followed by another scream and then all fucking hell breaks loose.

For my money there isn't a better Noise record in existence. I don't think any record I've heard comes close to this. If you haven't heard this then do yourself a favor and get this in whatever format you can. It's that fucking good. I promise.
